There are a few different types of screening systems and many different types of screen. Type of the screen depends on what effect is required with the screen. In many production greenhouses wire systems are used. In combination with ”slipping” profiles, narrow openings of the screen installation are avoided. Because greenhouse surfaces are growing bigger and bigger and because the use of aluminium gutters increases, the slipping profiles catch shrinking and expanding of the installations.
Another type of thermal screen system is the push-pull system using aluminium profiles. This system gives less forces on the end-gable walls.

Roller screens are mostly installed in the gable walls, but are also available as roof covering systems in Widespan greenhouses. The drive exists of special designed tube-motors. Screens to be used are from clear screens for energy savings, to black-out systems that completely hides assimilation lighting systems.

Also screen systems on top of the roof are available. On Venlo greenhouses a horizontal construction is placed in the gutters or on the roof and the thermal screen installation is attached to the construction. On Widespan greenhouses roller-screens are installed on top of the roof. The screen rolls downwards to the gutters. One of the advantages of outside roof screening systems is the fact that heat is kept outside of the greenhouse.
