Project Kwintsheul – The Netherlands

John Grootscholten, director owner Kwekerij Grootscholten, explains, "In order to work more efficiently, we needed a new cultivation system and fully automated internal transport. Moreover, we attach great value to the quality of our products, and we could optimize this in a new greenhouse. So when we had the opportunity to move into an adjacent lot, the choice was made quickly."

Prins Group was involved from the very beginning to advise Kwekerij Grootscholten on the construction of the new greenhouse. John: "We had previously worked with Prins Group during our expansion in 2017, and we were satisfied with their collaboration. They provide high-quality materials and build sturdy greenhouses." Therefore, the management chose Prins again for this expansion. "Once again, they instilled confidence in us and took care of all the worries. They took us to various projects to show us the different possibilities," says John.

Tom van Veen, Sales Manager at Prins Group, explains: "Kwekerij Grootscholten had clear objectives and requirements, including a specific height for optimal ventilation and sufficient space for the new systems." The utilization of the surface area also played a crucial role, leading to the decision to build an underground water storage beneath the cultivation system. Tom: "Together, we sat down at the drawing board to design an optimal greenhouse structure. We are proud of the design and the end result we delivered."

The collaboration was successful. The new greenhouse meets sustainability standards and is connected to the geothermal project "de Vogelaer." Prins also advised on the internal transport system. John: "We chose HT Verboom because of their good collaboration with Prins and the robust materials of their internal transport systems." The fully automated system has resulted in significant labor savings. "The rolling containers automatically come to the processing area when customer orders are received. If there are any plants left after the order is taken off, the system returns them to the greenhouse. When the table is empty, it is automatically cleaned and continues its path to the potting machine," John explains.

Regarding the future, Kwekerij Grootscholten is looking ahead with confidence. "Our new greenhouse enables us to cultivate high-quality products in a highly efficient manner. Moreover, we have become more resilient and agile. We are proud of our loyal customer base and see great opportunities for the next generation of our family business!" confirms John. With the successful collaboration between Prins Group and Kwekerij Grootscholten, the path to innovation and growth continues to open up for this thriving family business.
